New Blog ... but about an alter ego!

Since I wanna keep my mind busy and my creativity flowing, I decided to create another blog, but this one is a fictional one, an alter ego of sorts.

I love Jem and the Holograms! Ever since I first saw the cartoons back in the 80's. Stormer is one of the characters that I like the most from the cartoons and the toys. She is really sweet and adorable. The blog I will be working on is sort of a diary of hers. It is all made up using the cartoon episodes, music, dolls, bios and other info that I have found (and keep finding) on the magical world of the internet!

So check it out! Still a work in progess!

The Amazing World of Plushies!

I always had a thing for arts & crafts. I was good, but not THAT good. I tried, I gave it my best, but its not one of those things that I'm really good at. Or so I thought.

Miss V was organizing an event to collect money for a group of Homeschooled kids (and parents). The event is called Quarts, Parchment and Sheers (QPS for short). It is just another way of saying rock, paper, scissors! lol This event is gonna be like a mini fair where food is gonna be sold, there is gonna be entertainment and a QPS tournament (yes a tournament!). One of the activities on the event will be an auction of home-made plushies. Here is were my arts & crafts rabbles come in place lol.

For some reason Miss V thought that I was any good at it and invited me. Well, I gave it a shot. Since I was looking for something to keep me occupied, I thought that the making of the plushie was gonna take me so long it would keep me busy for ever! lol

Since this is an event for kids mainly, the plushies have to be kids friendly, I thought of making them about an existing cartoon. There are a lot of pretty cool ones out there, but for some reason The Amazing World of Gumball got stuck in my head. I went and got all of the material and printed out a picture of Gumball and a picture of Darwin, cut it and made a pattern with it.

I discovered something really important while working with the plushies... I cannot use patterns! All of the pieces came out too small, but the head came out too big in comparison. I had to add and add and add fabric 'til I finally got them to a better size. It was very challenging due to all the little pieces and still not being that good at sewing, but they came out great. One of Gumball's hand is bigger than the other, same with his feet. Gumball is way bigger than Darwin. It is supposed to be like that, but I made Gumball way to tall. (>.<)

I took my time and did my best. To me they look awesome! They came out way better thn expected. There are some plushies from the other participants that look amazing, but I'm very proud of mine!

I sure hope they can find a good home! All of the moneys will go toward the purchase of equipment and other needed things for the Happy Homeschool Kids.

Guro Lolitas 4 a Cause - The Odyssey!

Miss V, one of my FB friends, invited me to this event that she has being cooking in her head for a while. She wanted to make a photoshoot with girls dress as Guro Lolitas. The idea was to each represent a different cause and by this means make an impact on the community.

For the ones that have no idea what a lolita (more less guro) is, lolita is a Japanese fashion. The gal (or gent) dresses in a Victorian inspired outfit or doll like dress. There are several rules when wearing these outfits and there are several different styles, guro being one of them. Guro is the portrayal of a broken doll look and the loss of innocence. It is an all white dress with fake blood or paint simulating blood and slings or eye patches or anything that makes you look hurt, not dead nor gutted. The idea is too still look cute!

After weeks of planing and the making of my dress, the day arrived! It was a true odyssey! What made this day a really interesting one is that it was the same day as my birthday! So I spent the whole week going nuts cause I had to plan my bday party and the outfit for the photoshoot and what nots.

The day started at 5:30am. I had made my bag the day before and all of the outfits were together and I'm glad I'm anal like that. I wanted to get up at 5am, but I didn't hear the alarm... Why so early you might ask? Simple, we had to go  to the start up point at 8am, but before that I had to go get my sister, go get a friend and then drive 30 mins to get to  the place we were gonna meet. Amazingly some how we made it first than anybody else!

Left the house and went got my sister, left some of the party items and then head out to my friend's place. It was the first time I was going to her place. It took me about 20 mins to find her building cause she was horrible giving the directions!!!! (Sorry girl, but you are awful! lol <3). We get to the starting point and I decide to buy a coffee to wake me up and chit-chat while we wait for the others. The coffee was really hot so I started to blow it to cool it some... dumb ass me was blowing so hard I was actually pouring it all over my dress (>.<).

We left the starting point toward our first destination, an abandoned hospital. We all parked and started to get out and re-group, when I noticed that 3 of the people that were gonna be in the pics with us were dressed in... black and red!!! O.O WTF! If the shoot is GURO and GUROS dress in ALL WHITE, why the fuck they show up in BLACK AND RED!?!?!? I don't know, but I think they didn't do their homework very well!

We took some awesome pics on the outsides of the hospital. After a couple of hours there, we left to go to our second destination, an abandoned warehouse. Here we were able to take some indoor/outdoor pictures. Some of them extremely creepy and others a bit sweet. At the hospital we were not able to use any fake blood on the floor since the people in charge of security advised us not too, but since there was nobody at the warehouse we went crazy! lol There was fake blood on the walls, on the floors, on pipes... lets just say that if a junkie goes in there, he will go nuts and call the cops! lol (will watch the news for at least a week lol).

The best pictures were taken in the bathroom and in the blood spattered wall. Some pics unfortunately (TO ME) are gonna look a bit dis-tasteful. Regardless of how symbolic this might be, there are some pics that should not be taken, but they were. I hope that the people that took 'em think about it 2 or 3 times before posting them anywhere!

The folks that were dressed in black left early... I think they kinda figured out on their own how out of place they were. In some of the pics its even obvious! lol We were not trying to be mean, but rules are rules and they didn't follow them! If you are told to wear a dress and tie, you are not gonna show up dressed like a hippie unless you wanna look like a retard or make a statement!!! In this case... retard!

After we were done on the second location, we went to a nearby Wendy's to eat. It was hilarious!!! The expression on people's faces when they saw this group of women, all dress in white with blood splatters all over, accompanied by a really tall, mean looking guy dress in a black army uniform... WAS PRICELESS! A lady walked in front of me and one other girl from the group, in slow motion! We were sitting there eating for about an hour when the place filled up with church people and then BOOM! Total shock when we all got up at the same time to eat! LMAO! That was just too awesome!!!! lol

- These were my two representations -

All of the pictures will be posted on FB Nov. 2nd and in this blog (and some other pages). We want to make an impact and honor those that have being neglected, censored, killed, bullied, judged, harassed, abused or hurt. No person nor animal should suffer for the neglect or pleasure of another person!
This is all you are getting for now!

The Making of Shadow Weaver - Cosplay

A while back, I started making a list of the cosplays that I wanted to make for 2011 and 2012. One of the first ones that popped in my head was Shadow Weaver from the SheRa / HeMan / MOTU series. I have a thing for evil sorceress (and evil female characters all together XD). I though Weaver would be a very easy project to start with to get me going and learn how to use my recently acquired sewing machine.

It was very hard to get inspiration. Most of the females that have done her cosplay before me didn't do (for me) a very convincing job. Lots of them looked really cheap and last minute, so I decided I was gonna bust balls and make an awesome one.

I started to work on Weaver back in July '11 making the belt and painting the mask. I made copies of Hordak's "bat" emblem from one of the toys armor. At first it was all made from a clay like material, but it was way too heavy so I made the wings out of wonderflex (a plastic like material). The mask that I used is a Snake Eye's (GI Joe) toy mask. I painted it black, covered it with a see-trough fabric, painted the eyes and then stitched on the veil.

The cloak was easy to make, but really hot and heavy! First off, I know shit about sewing so it was all trial and error, imagination and lots of calls to my mom (she knows a lot about sewing). At the end the dress and cape came out AWESOME!

I'm really proud of my Weaver. A lot of people recognized it and took pics of me! I won 4th place and The Most Original recognition at Kaisen 9 10/9/11. It took me less than a month to make it, but I stopped working on it on August and started working on it again on October.

Thanks to Eric, Frances, Yadely, Wally, Venus and my mother for all the help and support!
